Our first day looking for ceremony/reception venues

So today, we checked out a couple of places for the wedding/reception. We've pretty much decided that we're set on an October wedding and we think we'd like to have the reception and wedding in the same location. Since most of you will be coming from out of town, we figure that it would be easiest for all involved to make it as convenient as possible.

So the first location we looked at is called the 9th Street Abbey in Soulard. It's an old church that's about 150 years old where they hold both weddings and reception in the same room. We like it, but not sure if it "wowed" us. We like the fact that's it's more of a church setting for the ceremony though.

The second place we went to was called Point of View and we were instantly impressed! It's on the 30th floor of the Laclede Gas Building in downtown St. Louis. It basically has a 360 degree view of the city. We absolutely love it! The main downfall though, is that it has kind of a conference center feel. It has potential to be a great location, but would take a lot of work on our part.

Let us know what you think. Feel free to leave comments because we really are interested in what everyone thinks!
